Idaho PBS is re-airing Beyond the Buzz and interviewing Dr. Ron Bitner on the bees in Idaho.
Beyond the Buzz Bitner Vineyards is honored and excited to work with Producer/director Forrest Burger to share the grassroots efforts to help Idaho’s bees. Stock up on your Bitner wine for a home viewing party and get a look at Idaho Public Television’s Outdoor Idaho airing Beyond The Buzz - A look at bees in Idaho.
There are 20,000 native species of bees in the world, 4,000 in the U.S., and around 700 in the state of Idaho. The majority are ground nesters. Rapid human growth threatens their habitat as earthmovers scoop them up to make way for new businesses and subdivisions.
Dr. Ron Bitner is a renowned bee expert who has traveled the world studying bees. Now he’s working with the University of Idaho, Oregon State University and the USDA bee lab in Logan, Utah, to document bee in Idaho to see what can be done to keep them healthy.
